Harry Hood

What is it about those moments after they say, "Thank you Mr. Hoooooood" that bring back a flooding rush of memories and inspiration?

So many nights up on the lawn staring up at the sky and pondering the potentials.

The power of music is stunning, overwhelming at times, ingrained into our DNA - something noone can take away. Indefinable. Such a uniquely personal experience.

Thanks to Sirius 17 for throwing whatever historic Hood this is into the mix, it's a damn good one to feel good about...

Trevor and Josh

I went on Tea Leaf Green side projects tour this week as keyboardist Trevor Garrod came into the local Mission neighborhood bar and treated a crowd of about 40 fans to his special blend of singer/songwriter lyrical genius.

Donning the accoustic guitar for the first half of the show, Trevor picked out some old classics, along with a new ensemble of songs entitled "Empire's Shadow" - definately a politically charged protest edge with that ever-familiar twang of country seduction we've come to know and love.

Accompanying Trevor was ALO guitarist Dan Lebowitz who added layers of slide guitar goodness to the mix as Trevor took to the piano. He closed things out with a fitting rendition of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice" and left everyone with a spirited smile of fulfillment in their hearts.

Wednesday saw us venture up to North Beach central (Broadway and Columbus) to see guitarist Josh Clark share the stage (or stools) with local guitarist Sean Leahy at Giordano Bros sandwich shop.

The two artists swapped songs, venturing between obscure Josh solo numbers that made the TLG cutting room floor along with Sean's own originals and mixing in the classic Allman Brothers covers as needed.

They ripped. Totally playing off of each other and creating some awesome moments of musical exploration and discovery.

Tea Leaf's frontmen each have a unique artistic quality of their own. Trevor's songwriting and vocal style combined with Josh's gritty guitar virtuoso classic bluesy-faire create the magical combo we see as a band.

But Individually, they are clearly masters of their own realm and lend the audience a captivating and inspired evening with much potential for future growth...

Where's the Ben C bass-session and Scotty Rager drum workshop?

eBay and Calendars

Yes, this is a post about selling calendars, but there's also a point in here somewhere about customer service.

We've got a few boxes of 2006 JamBase Wall Calendars left here at the office. If you haven't bought one (or three - think gifts!) yet, be our guest: http://goods.jambase.com

I had the shower thought this morning that maybe we should try to diversify where the items are available, so I figured I'd experiment and put them up on eBay at a slightly reduced starting price to see if people were interested.

I went through the entire eBay Sellers process, signed up, got verified (extra $), put the item in, fiddled with the description and photos and made it live.

I then got prompted to associate the item with other "like" items, and in doing that accidentally entered the item again. Since it costs money to list an item (eBay needs to make money too), I think this triggered another charge in my account.

I tried to figure out how to cancel this but couldn't, so I went to "Help" and opened a live chat session with an eBay Customer Service agent who helped me.

Below is the log of the chat - pretty amazing that I was able to have this over the internet with someone live without having to call, but equally amazing at the steps and loops I had to jump through to deal with this. I'm wondering if there isn't more automation that can be put into place here for these people to deal with this as well as more clarification from them on how to work within the system, which appears to be engineered from the group up.

Maybe because I'm an engineer I know how easy it should be to go into the database and deal with stuff like this...but then again, this was supposed to be a post about selling calendars:

By the way, all the profits go to Charity!
