WWGD

This week has already seen the launch of two new Google products: Google Desktop & Google Talk.

Check 'em out, they're cool - I'll spare you the review since they've both expectedly self-explanatory and easy to understand.

Immediately, speculation has started to run rampant around their intentions and direction to finally combine all of these new features they've been rolling out over the last thing.

What's probably the most remarkable thing about it all, however, is how much people are remarking about it. (thanks Seth). It's clear at this point that Goog can't make a move in any direction without people flooding the blogs with it -this one included.

What is it about them that makes people so quick to react whenever they make a move? Is it the product, the brand, the look, the feel, the simplicity, the innovation, the forward thinking, the go-it-alone mentality, the googleplex, the food or all of it together? I'm start to get pavlovian reactions to everything to come out of Mountain View. Those beautiful primary colors and interface design standards just make me want to use their stuff.

I think many of us are now fairly pre-dispositioned to expect nothing but great things, and as a result they live up to our expectations and we embrace in a techno-geeky-yet-actually-socially-positive-relevant-and-useful dance which actually makes things more exciting on the Internet. It's truly an incredible feet to not only live up to and exceed your potential, but acutally continue to step beyond the accepted norm and introduce new ideas to make people think about things in different ways. For me, that's probably the most exciting part...

What will the do next? I'm not sure, but I bet I'll like it...

...but just when you think things are going great, along comes good old resentment.

I guess once you've reached a point of success and power, there is an inevidable shift of consciousness which comes both internally and externally. Ironic for a company that was started with the philosophy of "Do No Evil".

To reflect, in summary, we have:
1) Reaching your potential
2) Exceeding expectations and living up to your earlier self
3) Continued innovation and forward momentum
4) Successful IPO and growth of stock, profit and value

5) Allegations of monopolistic and capitalistic practices in a monopolistic and capitalistic world

Aint business fun?
