Indecision

There is a certain power in making a decision.

You've chosen a path, and you're committed to it. Sure, you can always change your mind later, but for that moment you've set in motion a series of events which will dictate your destiny.

We can spin in debate for hours, days and weeks until we step up and says that this is the way it's going to be. If we never did, we'd never get anything done. Once the decision is made it's then up to other people to decide if they want to support and follow that decision, disagree and fight it or simply remain indecisively passive.

As empowering as the decision process can be it can also be exhausting, intense and intitimating. You're taking on the responsibility of the outcome and if it doesn't go the way you expected, you're the one who caused it. The buck, as they say, stops here.

Of course, they say that there are no wrong decisions. NOT making a decision is also a decision in and of itself. It's crucial to know when to make a quick decision like the right time to merge on the highway vs. when to ponder something much bigger like which car to buy.

Of course nothing can really match our first initial impulse reaction, which is more often than not the correct decision. When all else fails, go with your gut, listen to your heart and make the call. No one will blame you for trying and everyone will wish they had the guts to step out on the limb and do what needs to be done.
